RENT AN RV FOR SAN ONOFRE
San Onofre is located in the North Coastal region of San Diego. San Onofre also has a deactivated nuclear-powered generating facility and a state-of-the-art military base, which contrasts with its primal, natural side. Trestles, Old Man's, and Trails are three distinct beach sites in San Onofre that can be enjoyed by day or overnight camping.
Best Place To Go;
1. Lower Trestles - a world-famous surf break can be found on the south side of the San Mateo Creek
river mouth. Many great surfers learned their skills in Trestles, and you may see a three-ring circus of
modern power surfing and aerial exploits on any any day (but especially during the summer/fall south swell
season).
2. Old Man's - is a convenient location with excellent facilities and a safe, clean, sandy beach. Old
Man's, like its northern neighbor Trestles, is a world-famous surf spot. Old Man's still has fun, soft waves
that make it a favorite surf site for novices and veterans alike, and beachgoers will enjoy the friendly,
tailgate party atmosphere in and around the parking lot.
3. Trails - is the collective name for the three miles of beach that front the San Onofre Bluffs
State Campground, which is located to the south of the nuclear power station. The campground is laid out in
a linear fashion, with campsites and restrooms situated at regular intervals along the old Coast Highway's
seaward side. The beach is mostly sand, with some rock reefs and tide pools at low tide.
4. San Onofre State Beach Campground - with 380 RV and tent camping spots, it's a terrific place to
go camping. There are no utility hookups, but there are bathrooms, picnic tables, and fire rings.
Reservations are difficult to come by, so make yours as soon as possible.
